Lorde announces her return with edgy new music video, grade and VFX by MPC LA

Lorde did not disappoint with her latest video, which marks the wunderkind’s return to music after a two-year hiatus. Directed by Grant Singer of Anonymous Content and shot by Steve Annis on 16mm film, the video has a futuristic feel while simultaneously harking back to the early days of music videos – complete with windblown hair and a portable cassette player.

Recent collaborations between Singer and MPC also include The Weeknd’s MANIA short film and ZAYN and Taylor Swift’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” video.

Grade was provided by MPC colorist Ricky Gausis; VFX was supervised by Cynthia Lee and executed by lead artist Andre Arevalo. This small yet formidable team of artists has, between the three of them, an impressive credits list: Prada “Candy,” Samsung “Surf – The Snail,” Call of Duty Black Ops 3 “Seize Glory,” Calvin Harris “My Way” and FX Networks’ Gloden Globe-winning series Atlanta, to name a few.
