On January 27, 2017, Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift surprise-dropped a promotional music video for their hit single, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” The video was created in anticipation of Fifty Shades Darker, the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel film with visual effects by MPC Film. Inspired by the feature film, the music video is composed of dark, moody hues and sizzling glances from the two superstars.
MPC LA colorist Ricky Gausis and 2D Lead Cynthia Lee were excited to collaborate with Universal Studios, Republic Records and Anonymous Content’s acclaimed director Grant Singer on the project. Singer’s MANIA short film for The Weeknd was another favorite collaboration of MPC LA.
Gausis’ recent work spans from viral music videos like Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s “Side to Side” and Calvin Harris’ “My Way” to the entire first season of Donald Glover’s award-winning series, Atlanta.
Lee is a Lead Flame Artist whose work includes music videos for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Katy Perry and Amy Winehouse; campaigns for HTC, Nokia and Bet365; and commercials for Agent Provocateur, Avon and Adidas – many of which have gone viral.
Fifty Shades Darker premieres on February 14. Until then, fans can glimpse into the movie’s glamour and drama through the video below.
