MPC LA provided the visual effects and grade for Ford’s 2017 Super Bowl commercial. Colorist Mark Gethin graded and Creative Director Rob Hodgson collaborated with effects supervisors Ryan McDougal, Andre Arevalo and Ben Persons. Directed by Hoffman/Metoyer, the ad focuses on the familiar feeling of being stuck – a lone skier on a broken ski lift, a child’s kite lodged in a high tree branch, a boat whose engine dies in the middle of an icy winter lake, a car with its tires stuck in deep snow. After exploring these frustrating situations, the spot reveals many of Ford’s exciting new technologies that help people get out of sticky situations and go further.
Whether its researching self-driving car technology, partnering with global cities on a bike sharing program or creating the FordPass app, which allows drivers to unlock and start their cars from their phones, Ford is on the cutting edge of today’s transportation technology. Similarly, MPC is proud to be at the forefront of global talent and technology in color grading and visual effects.
