Coca-Cola celebrates family bonding at Chinese New Year with McCann Worldgroup Shanghai.

Augusto De Fraga has directed the new Coca-Cola spot for Animal Factory Films and McCann Worldgroup Shanghai. In their third collaboration with Augusto, MPC designed and built a pair of clay dolls and integrated them into a festive snowy environment.

The clay dolls themselves are synonymous with Chinese New Year and were crafted digitally by MPC Shanghai. Their mission is to build a family for the snowman and underline the importance of sticking together at this special time of the year.  

The VFX team lead by Barry Greaves brought the dolls to life using Maya and composited them into their snowy environment adding personality and mischief to proceedings.

Shanghai based Head of Colour – Vincent Taylor gave the film a festive look by embracing the cold exteriors but maintaining a sense of playful invitation. A steel blue pallet was the perfect backdrop to emulate a moonlit environment. This provided an offset against the warm interiors but additionally enhanced the external red hues to highlight the brand presence.

The Ad airs in China over Chinese New Year.
