In a series of short ads, online executions and a 75-second broadcast TV spot, Bud Light and Wieden + Kennedy introduce a set of newly redesigned cans of Bud Light that made their debut at the start of the 2016 NFL season. Inspired by team jerseys and intended to stoke fan’s love for their teams – and for their favorite light beer – the fast-paced spot titled “This Is Your Can’s Year” delivers a non-stop bit of street poetry about how this just may be the year your can (i.e., the team represented by the icon on the can) goes all the way to the big game.
Directed by Mark Romanek of Anonymous Content, the spot features cameos by current and former NFL stars, lots of glam shots of Bud Light cans, funny vignettes of fans being their team-obsessed selves, some re-created historical footage and a healthy dose of VFX work from the artists at MPC New York.
“Your Can’s Year” was part of a project that included numerous deliverables from MPC for use on broadcast and digital media outlets.
