The Groom team creates photorealistic and stylized grooms for characters, creatures and environments.
Grooming invlolves the creation of CG elements like hair, fur, feathers and grass. We use our in house proprietary tool 'Furtility' as our core software which gives us a key point of difference to our competitors. The tool is a plug in for Maya.
We are a Global team of dedicated and passionate artists at the forefront of the industry. Our Groom work on Life of Pi and Jungle Book were heavy influences on MPC winning the Visual Effect Oscars, and we continue to work on potential Oscar-winning work every day.
We are a focused, dedicated Groom department because at MPC we concentrate solely on that specific discipline. Therefore our team are passionate and immersed in Groom, sharing knowledge and techniques which continue to push the boundaries of what is possible.
Ideal candidates would be strong traditional artists with a keen eye for detail, with some technical ability. Having previous Grooming experience (using Xgen, Yeti or other in proprietary software) is preferable but not essential. We also like artists who are team players and willing to share their knowledge.
Perhaps you are looking for a change of gear or experience in your career? Well, if you're an experienced professional in Game cinematics, a Z Brush Sculptor, a Modeller or Character FX TD you should get in touch for a chat. Texture artists you may have the skills to join our team.
Many of today’s big blockbuster movies have Grooming as a key element and recent shows that we have played a key part in include Jungle Book, Life Of Pi and Fantastic Beasts.
Digi double grooming is also become more prevalent and our groom team were recently responsible for grooming key characters in Blade Runner 2049 (Sean Young's character Rachael) and Terminator Genesis (Young Arnie).
