Crowd at MPC

All you need to know about Crowd at MPC

Crowd at MPC

The Crowd team at MPC are responsible for simulating large amounts of characters, whether they be human, animal, vehicle, alien and anything in between. The department employs a mix of MPC's proprietary crowd software A.L.I.C.E. (Artificial Life Crowd Engine) and SideFX's Houdini.

Unlike many other VFX houses MPC gets a wide variety of Crowd work, often differing hugely in size, style and complexity - the creative brief is often different from show to show, allowing the artist to develop different skills and approaches to craft the required impact for any given shot. It's never boring!

Problem solving is a key skill needed to join our team whilst an accomplished level of technical ability/scripting knowledge is beneficial. A working knowledge of Maya and/or Houdini is a prerequisite.

Our team come from a variety of backgrounds including some who have worked mainly in the Games industry. Interested in the prospect of moving from games to VFX  - get in touch with the Talent Team to talk more.

Among the projects currently being undertaken by the team are two massive Disney shows - a re-imagining of The Lion King along with The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. The latter is one of our our most challenging Crowd project to date with a task of creating large monsters formed entirely out of mice. It's going to look amazing.

Why not join our team and help create jaw-dropping cinema moments like this for future movie-lovers?
