Super Bowl LIII

MPC has another big showing at Super Bowl LIII

Every year, the Super Bowl commercials are the talk of the town, and this year, we were delighted to work on six spots, including Amazon's comedic look at its beta-test products and Ridley Scott's first return to the advertising world in 15 years.

From visual effects to beautiful finishing and grade, here is a roundup of spots that MPC worked on...

Turkish Airlines, The Journey

Turkish Airlines have teamed up with legendary director Ridley Scott for his first return to the advertising world in 15 years.

Premiering with a 30-second clip during the Super Bowl, the Istanbul-centric film is based around the plot of a cat-and-mouse chase across the city’s iconic landmarks, paying homage to its splendor with its new airport, poised to be the biggest in the world.

Anomaly partnered with Scott to direct the film with VFX from MPC. This is the airline’s third consecutive Super Bowl ad.

Amazon, Not Everything Makes The Cut

Not everything makes the cut as an Amazon Alexa device, and this humorous ad from the brand takes a look at some of the beta-test products that didn’t get the seal of approval, from a dog collar that speaks dog, to an electric toothbrush that is Alexa-enabled, all with hilarious results...

MPC’s Ricky Gausis graded the spot from Lucky Generals, which was directed by Hungryman’s Wayne McClammy, and shot by DP Christian Sprenger. Harrison Ford and Forest Whitaker star.

Michelob Ultra, Robots

The ad shows a robot outrunning and outplaying humans in sports like golf and boxing, only to realize that it can't enjoy a beer with friends. It ends with a cameo from Colombian singer Maluma opening the beer at a bar with friends.

Sprint, Best of Both Worlds

Following last year’s introduction to mischievous robot Evelyn and her robot friends in last year’s Super Bowl ad, she’s back again, and this time sports legend Bo Jackson, a mermaid and a ‘bird horse’ has joined them.

MPC has partnered with Droga5 on numerous Sprint campaigns throughout the year, and we’re delighted to have worked on another Super Bowl for the second year running.

Kia, Give It Everything

Kia’s latest Super Bowl campaign from David & Goliath sees MPC’s Mark Gethin team up once again with director John Hillcoat, a long-time collaborator.

The brand, which is opting out of celebrity endorsements this year and using the money to start The Great Unknowns Scholarship, focuses on the people in a small town in Georgia.

Carl's Jr., Malibu Yoga

This new Carl’s Jr. campaign from Arnold Worldwide aired regionally in California during the game. Traktor’s Sam Larsson directed the comedic spot featuring a spot of beach yoga and the plant-based burger itself, the “Beyond Famous Star”. MPC handled the finishing, with grade by MPC’s Ricky Gausis.
