Who inspires you? And what will you do with that inspiration?
This the theme that marries two new short films from Pereira & O’Dell/NY, Hey Wonderful and MPC. Titled Instrument and Mirror, they capture emotional stories of two individuals who go beyond normal human capacity, all thanks to one man they both clearly admire: Albert Einstein.
Available online for the "10 Days of Genius Film Festival", the shorts were “inspired” by Genius, the first ever scripted series for Nat Geo, which premiered on April 25th, 2017.
From Instrument’s floating objects in a cozy instrument shop all the way to Mirror’s exploration of the far regions of outer space.
So who inspired the artists at MPC? “This was a great job for us at MPC because we had the opportunity to work with amazing talent like director Sam Spiegel (brother of Spike Jonze), the Academy Award-winning DP Robert Yeoman and Production Designer Elliott Hostetter,” said Warren Paleos, VFX Supervisor in New York.
And what did they do with it? “We couldn’t wait to bring their vision for this to life,” Warren added. “To do this, we used a lot of digital matte painting, paintings, projections, particle systems and various relighting techniques. For Instrument, we did a bit of researching what the inside of older shops used to look like in the 40's and 50's to really capture the look and feel."
