M&S, Christmas Must Haves

This year Marks & Spencer make their ‘must-have’ products the focus of their Clothing and Home campaign for busy families over the Christmas period.

With visual effects and grade from MPC, this playful spot from Grey London features popular celebrities Holly Willoughby and David Gandy partaking in various Christmas ‘Must-Have’ festivities – from decorating your Christmas tree to relaxing in your new M&S underwear.

VFX Supervisor Dan Sanders gave a glimpse into some of the work involved: “We made a cg forest that is revealed when we pull back from Holly Willoughby, as she's under the tree. All the falling and settled snow in the commercial was created in Maya or as a DMP. 

We created several transitions - one from a drone shot of a 1970s house, up to the sky and then back down to the bus stop and one from a sink to a perfume bottle. The end sequence of the houses being lit up by Christmas decorations is entirely done in VFX - a mixture of extensive DMP for Christmas lights elements and snowy rooftops, plus some cg foreground buildings.”
