MPC continues winning streak at VES 2019

MPC takes home top prizes for VFX and Animated Character at the VES Awards

Hosted in Beverly Hills, the prestigious 17th Annual VES awards recognize outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation in film, animation, television, commercials and video games and the VFX supervisors, VFX producers and hands-on artists who bring this work to life.

We were delighted to win:

Outstanding Visual Effects in a Commercial
John Lewis; The Boy and the Piano

  • Kamen Markov, Philip Whalley, Anthony Bloor, Andy Steele

Outstanding Animated Character in a Commercial
Volkswagen; Born Confident; Bam

  • David Bryan, Chris Welsby, Fabian Frank, Chloe Dawe

‘The Boy and the Piano’, created by adam&eveDDB and directed by Seb Edwards, saw MPC create a seamless reverse chronology of Elton John’s career highlights through compositing photo-realistic CG faces and environments across multiple eras. As one of the UK’s most anticipated ads of year the spot received universal acclaim.

‘Born Confident’ was created by adam&eveDDB in London and DDB Berlin/Hamburg. Directed by Somesuch’s Nick Gordon, MPC excelled at bringing to life the star of the show, the self-assured young ram. Using innovative in-house software developed for photo-real creature work, the team mastered the tricky balance of crafting a charming photo-real character without slipping into cartoon-like animation.

Congratulations to everyone involved in these incredible spots!
