Edeka’s brave and beautiful ‘2117’ film – directed by MJZ’s Matthijs Van Heijningen with Jung von Matt – stole the show, winning a Gold Lion in VFX and a Silver Lion in Animation. As one of last year’s most awarded Christmas campaigns, this is a project we are hugely proud to have worked on – massive congratulations to our talented team in London and Bangalore for bringing the film to life. The touching spot was also awarded a Gold Lion for Use of Original Music.
First-ever Holocaust survivor testimonial in room-scale VR, ‘The Last Goodbye’, was also shortlisted in two categories; VR, AR & Mixed Reality and 360 & VR Film. The powerful photoreal experience, produced by Here Be Dragons, features VFX from MPC. Well done to our team sensitive emotive.
Apple, one of the most-awarded brand owners at this festival, won Lions for ‘Unlock’ and ‘Barbers’, both with VFX and grade by MPC. Apple’s spirited and fast-paced ‘Unlock’ spot was awarded two Lions across Film and Film Craft Categories whilst Apple’s ‘Barbers’ Portrait Mode ad won Furlined Productions’ Dougal Wilson a Gold Lion in Direction and brought home another Gold and two Silvers Lions. Hugely deserved wins for the teams of artists here at MPC and all those involved in working on both of the projects.
Diesel’s two-part gritty ‘Flawed’ campaign, directed by François Rousselet at Division Paris for Publicis Italy, was honoured with four Film Craft Lions. The stylishly told spots, with VFX and grade by MPC, scooped Lions in Direction, Cinematography and Production Design/Art Direction. Huge congratulations to the talented team involved.
Last but not least, great work from our Mikros-MPC team, who partnered on two award-winning projects at this year’s Cannes. Academy’s Seb Edwards’ ‘Timeless’, a beautiful spot by BETC for Lacoste, received Silver Lions for Production Design/Art Direction and Use of Licensed/Adapted Music. Ubisoft's Far Cry 5 live action trailer, ‘Baptism’, which sees Henry’s Martin De Thurah team up with DDB Paris, was honoured with a Lion in Direction.
